regions and Communities

  1. We see communities in a regional context—as interconnected systems of mutually dependent resources rather than jurisdictional entities.  From this perspective, caring for the character and health of places requires adaptive planning and design that is in harmony with the land. Climate change brings a heightened urgency to this task.  Now is the time to understand and adapt to its impacts, and to craft sustainable solutions to our changing relationship with nature.  From the neighborhood, city, regional to global scales, improving the balance of the natural and built environment is good design and good business.
